Welcome to 2nd Edition, a proudly independent, privately owned boutique op shop operating right in the heart of Wallsend. Unlike massive corporate charity warehouses, we are a small local business driven by a genuine passion for unique fashion, community connections, and the thrill of the thrift hunt. 

Every single item on our racks is hand-picked and carefully inspected to ensure your pre-loved garments are of immaculate quality. We specialise in a curated mix of timeless vintage gems, trending Y2K streetwear, premium designer labels, and everyday wardrobe essentials. By giving quality clothing a "second edition," we help our community shop sustainably, reduce textile waste, and express their individual style without the hefty retail price tag. 

We believe shopping second-hand should feel like walking into a high-end fashion boutique. We take immense pride in how our shop looks, ensuring our floor space is always clean, beautifully organised, and easy to browse.

Our team pours a lot of creative energy into frequently refreshing our front window displays and carefully styling our mannequins with head-turning outfits. We love using these displays to spark style inspiration and prove that curated pre-loved clothing can look every bit as chic, modern, and fashionable as brand-new retail lines!

Continuing the 26-Year Legacy: Our New Chapter 

The story of 2nd Edition is built on 26 wonderful years of community, fashion, and friendship. The shop originally began with the incredible Lorraine Hanbury and the late Margaret Walker, who lovingly ran the store for 21 years in the heart of Wallsend. Five years ago, they trusted me with the opportunity to carry on their legacy, acting as amazing mentors and allowing me to live out my dream of running this beloved local op shop. I will be forever grateful to Margaret and Lorraine for their guidance, and to our beautiful staff, Amanda, Cheryl, and Brenda, whose dedication and kindness made this journey so special. 

Our New Space, Our Own Touch (Coming Soon)

While an incredible chapter on Nelson Street has come to a close, the 2nd Edition journey is far from over! We have officially moved to a brand-new physical location, allowing us to continue this 26-year legacy while building a space that is completely our own.

We have poured our hearts into putting our own modern touch on the new shop (coming soon). From our vibrant, hand-styled front window displays to our creatively dressed mannequins and beautifully organized racks, we have designed a fresh, boutique thrifting experience tailored for our amazing community. It’s the same heart, the same curated quality, but in a brand-new space designed to inspire your sustainable style. Come visit us and see our new look!

As we launch into this exciting new physical space, we have also officially expanded into a vibrant online presence! We want our community to be able to find pre-loved treasures no matter where they are, which is why we’ve launched our digital storefronts on eBay and Depop, making it easier than ever to secure our finest hand-picked clothing from home.

We are also bringing the shop floor straight to your phone screens via Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. We love sharing behind the scene moments, new arrivals, and local market events. Plus, every single week we run Mannequin Mondays! Our team curates and dresses our mannequins in fresh, head turning outfits, and we hand the vote over to you on social media to pick your absolute favorite look. It's our favorite way to spark sustainable style inspiration every single Monday!
